On Demand Staffing  is currently recruiting an experienced General Foreman.  Overall responsibilities will be to lead construction projects according to strict deadlines and within budget; embracing the role of being the company’s key on-site representative.  The General Foremen will work closely with the Project Management team.  An ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • 5+ years of successful General Foreman experience within the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors of the construction industry

As a General Foreman your role is to oversee the functions noted in bold below.  A summary of responsibilities within each function are also outlined. 

Safety

  • Ensure all safety requirements are followed and met, striving for zero safety incidents
  • Review Job Hazard Analysis’ completed by the appropriate Project Manager at the start of each project
  • Complete a worksite safety inspection on a weekly basis and submit for review
  • Assist JHSC reps and MOL inspectors during jobsite inspections
  • Abide by, and ensure all site personnel abide by the companies Health & Safety, as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
  • Report any jobsite injury and/or illness in an immediate manner to the Director of Operations

Overall Management of Project

  • Manage overall day-to-day operations on the jobsite
  • Understand the project scope, budget and schedule
  • Identify short, mid and long-term resource requirements for the project and make proper arrangements to ensure they are available on a timely basis
  • Lead and coordinate all activities related to employees, subcontractors, client staff and suppliers
  • Appoint a Supervisor for any period in which you are stepping away from the project
  • Ensure the proper level of quality is maintained while also attaining the milestones and financial goals of the project
  • Record all project related activities within such items as the Supervisor Log Book and the Weekly Job Report
  • Submit accurately completely paperwork to Project Management in a timely basis
  • Ensure all company-owned equipment and tools are signed out, available, in good working order, properly stored and finally signed back in

Communication

  • Detailed, on-going, timely communications with Project Management (before shift, at breaks, etc.)
  • Project related communication with the client, based on Project Manager’s instructions
  • Project related communications with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Communicate to site staff on an ongoing basis (site talks, disciplinary action, coaching and training, etc)

Leadership

  • Champion company procedures, policies and initiatives to improve Construction operations
  • Assess employee performance and provide feedback to the Director of Operations
  • Participate in quarterly employee evaluations, providing timely and relevant feedback
  • Maintain any company provided vehicle in clean, properly serviced and presentable order

 

Other job related duties may be assigned on an ongoing basis. In addition this is a working foremen position therefore the successful candidate will lead but also perform daily construction tasks.

Terms of Employment: Full Time, Days; 7am till 4pm

Monday – Friday possible Saturday.

Salary: $11.40 to $12.00 per hour

Welder

Location: Port Colborne

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Public transportation is not available

Hours: Monday to Friday

Pay Rate: $18.00

Experience: 2-3 years

Job Summary:

  • The Welder is responsible for designing, cutting, and permanently joining metal components together through the application of appropriate welding equipment and techniques. Welder work with a range of materials and equipment in fitting/assembling metal components to form structures, which ultimately make up a finished good.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Utilize Mig in welding metallic and composite materials together
  • Operate manual welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions
  • Use saw, drills, iron workers, and other manufacturing equipment in cutting, bevelling, and contouring metal work pieces
  • Rework material by dismantling, reshaping, and reassembling metal components using cutting torches and hand tools
  • Monitor manufacturing equipment to ensure usage is within optimum temperature to avoid overheating or expansion
  • Prepare metal surfaces to remove impurities such as dirt, scale, rust, grease, and moisture
  • Read and interpret project drawings, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams to accurately perform welding functions
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
  • Contribute to equipment modifications for continual improvement of new and existing products
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Welding Supervisor

Evaluation & Measurement:

  • Ensure welds are free from defects and impurities
  • Continual improvement on welding procedures and practices
  • Frequency of non-conformances using welding jigs and drawings

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • 2+years’ experience operating as a commercial welder
  • Current and valid welding certification
  • Ability to complete repetitive task without making mistakes
  • Previous Mig welding and/or custom fabrication experience
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills
  • Must appreciate and acknowledge working responsibilities and authorities within the organization.
