Job Summary:

  • The Welder is responsible for designing, cutting, and permanently joining metal components together through the application of appropriate welding equipment and techniques. Welder work with a range of materials and equipment in fitting/assembling metal components to form structures, which ultimately make up a finished good.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Utilize Mig in welding metallic and composite materials together
  • Operate manual welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions
  • Use saw, drills, iron workers, and other manufacturing equipment in cutting, bevelling, and contouring metal work pieces
  • Rework material by dismantling, reshaping, and reassembling metal components using cutting torches and hand tools
  • Monitor manufacturing equipment to ensure usage is within optimum temperature to avoid overheating or expansion
  • Prepare metal surfaces to remove impurities such as dirt, scale, rust, grease, and moisture
  • Read and interpret project drawings, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams to accurately perform welding functions
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
  • Contribute to equipment modifications for continual improvement of new and existing products
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Welding Supervisor

Evaluation & Measurement:

  • Ensure welds are free from defects and impurities
  • Continual improvement on welding procedures and practices
  • Frequency of non-conformances using welding jigs and drawings

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • 2+years’ experience operating as a commercial welder
  • Current and valid welding certification
  • Ability to complete repetitive task without making mistakes
  • Previous Mig welding and/or custom fabrication experience
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills
  • Must appreciate and acknowledge working responsibilities and authorities within the organization.

MANUFACTURING

Terms of Employment: Full Time Rotating Shifts

Shifts:  Rotation shifts are as follows 7am-3pm. 3pm -11pm, 11pm – 7am. Candidates must be able to work all 3 shifts. The worker would start on days for the first week or 2 to get trained.

Job Description: Operate the forklift truck safely within the assigned areas, gain conceptual knowledge of the various manufacturing processes and procedures through exposure and training while assisting other employees and performing various functions as assigned by the Production Supervisor, and perform a daily safety inspection of the forklift truck as necessary. This job description lists only the routine responsibilities of the position.

  • Dispose of refuse in the appropriate receptacles
  • Organize goods, supplies and consumables.
  • Use hand tools to clean up spilled and leaked material or product.
  • Safely operate the sweeper and forklift truck and fill propane tanks as trained.
  • Remove and empty full super sacks of dust from the dust collectors as assigned, then replace with new sacks.
  • Perform a safety inspection of the forklift truck and sweeper as necessary at the beginning of the shift and report the findings to the Production Supervisor; watch for any failures, potential or otherwise, and inform maintenance or the Supervisor as necessary.
  • Adhere to the guidelines and rules in the company’s “Health and Safety Manual” located in the lunch room and in the Production Supervisor’s office.
  • Follow the area’s associated instructions provided in the “Work Instructions”, and the procedures detailed in the “Quality Management Procedures”
  • The employee in this position is also expected to assist fellow employees when necessary, and to complete other tasks requested by the supervisor or other management personnel.
  • To provide a description of the minimum requirements, responsibilities, and the basic duties associated with acquiring and maintaining the position as Laborer. The goal of the position is to work safely and efficiently to reduce costs and improve productivity while performing all tasks, assisting other operators and employees as necessary, with highest regards to the environment and safety in the work area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Technical Requirements:

  • Must have minimal mechanical skills.
  • Must be able to apply basic math skills.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift truck and maintain a Propane Filling Certificate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able lift fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to withstand cold weather and high heat/humidity working conditions, and the odors associated with the steel-making process.
  • Must be able to work scheduled shift including weekends and overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to work at a minimum elevated height of 15 feet above the ground.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and traverse the grounds.
  • Must be able to bend and twist within tight clearance or close quarter areas.
  • Must have vision at or corrected to 20/40.
  • Must be able to withstand the radiant glare off high temperature hot metal.
  • Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to work with hand tools.
